Canada Recognises the Road
The Canadian Athletics Federation has launched a new website: www.runcanada.ca, specifically dedicated to road running and race walking in Canada. Site features include athlete profiles, a photo gallery, calendar and results, and news from the Canadian road racing community.
Athletics Canada is the national governing body for the sport of track and field in Canada, including cross-country and road running. In the past there has been little recognition of the "ex-stadia" events, but this latest move goes some way towards acknowledging that road racing is the current driving force within the sport of "athletics", mobilising hundreds of thousands of active participants.
